Mengapa buku ini saya beri judul Kitab Kehidupan: Minum Kopimu, Baca Dirimu, Temukan Fitrahmu, Hayati Hidup Baru? Dalam madrasah dunia ini kita hakikatnya perlu membaca kitab kehidupan, baik tertulis maupun tak tertulis, yang bertebaran di atas bumi. Mengapa minum kopi? Kopi itu hitam warnanya, sebagian rasanya pun pahit; namun, jika kita nikmati, sejatinya kopi juga terasa manis dan nikmat. Hidup pun demikian: Ada malam, ada siang; ada susah, ada senang—namun ia akan nikmat jika diterima sebagai ujian.

Lalu, selagi minum kopi, jangan lupa kita harus membaca dan memahami diri sendiri apa adanya, sebab hal itu pintu untuk mengenal Allah. Kemudian, kita harus menemukan (kembali) fitrah kita sebagai manusia—di samping beribadah kepada Allah, juga beramal shalih kepada sesama manusia dan aneka flaura-fauna-Nya. Puncaknya, kita harus senantiasa menghayati hidup dengan yang baru—dasar pemikiran, sikap, dan perilaku yang baru dan lebih baik dari pada sebelumnya. Kita harus berani berubah untuk meningkatkan kualitas iman dan takwa dari waktu ke waktu seakan sedang meniti jalan menuju cahaya-Nya.
Dengan kata lain, dengan judul Kitab Kehidupan: Minum Kopimu, Baca Dirimu, Temukan Fitrahmu, Hayati Hidup Baru?, saya menghadirkan teks dan konteks pemahaman bahwa dunia ini hakikatnya merupakan madrasah tempat kita belajar, dan hidup adalah kitab pelajaran. Tugas kita adalah membaca (iqra) dalam arti luas, menghayati ilmunya dengan amal serta memetik hikmah yang dikandungnya. Semua itu dimanfaatkan untuk memperkaya kualitas diri, agar kelak siap kembali kepada-Nya. Bukankah kita penduduk langit yang mengembara, dan hadir ke dunia untuk bersekolah, serta kelak akan pulang ke kampung (akhirat)?
