Ini berita yang akan menghebohkan Surabaya khususnya, dan Indonesia pada umumnya. Hanya dalam hitungan hari. Maka, segera saya menulis artikel opini yang (lebih-kurang) berjudul “Sekolah Khusus LGBTQ: Stigmatisasi dan Destigmatisasi?” Artikel saya tawarkan ke redaksi dan diterima untuk dimuat. Esoknya, artikel opini dimuat di rubrik opini.
Ternyata, di luar dugaan, pada menjelang dan saat launching sekolah tersebut, terjadi demo besar di lokasi hotel tersebut. Menurut berita yang saya ikuti, para demonstran menuntut agar pembukaan sekolah bergender khusus itu dibatalkan. Banyak tokoh masyarakat juga berpendapat. Singkat cerita, sekolah khusus itu akhirnya batal diluncurkan. Telusur punya telusur, tulisan opini di atas telah “memantik” kesadaran masyarakat untuk melakukan aksi.

Singkat cerita, dua hari kemudian mahasiswa ini menemui saya dan tiba-tiba bersujud minta maaf atas apa yang dilakukannya. Konsultasi revisi akhirnya berjalan lancar. Kemudian, dia lulus dengan baik, dan pengalaman itu memberi pelajaran khusus padanya.
